Mocking Victims Of Chemical Attacks In Disgusting Syrian Comedy Series

Skyline International expresses its disgust at the dehumanisation of chemical attack victims’ which took place in Syria, through a Syrian comedy series called “Contac”.

The mockery of the victims and questioning of the massacres is absolutely horrendous and immoral. It shows indifference to the victims, their families and the tragedies they have experienced, the organisation says.

The Syrian drama channel “Shouf ” broadcasted an episode on May 28 showing the so-called White Helmets Setting up chemical attacks on civilians. They are directing a scene of the victims through the use of extras. It was broadcasted on the official TV channel of “Shouf Drama” and their YouTube channel that has removed the episode later after the complaints against it.

Skyline International confirms that the denial of these massacres is a moral failure, especially since the majority of the UN investigation committees have proven the use of chemical weapons in the conflict in Syria.

The Syrian opposition accuses the government forces of using that weapon, while the latter denies, accusing the armed groups.

The organisation asks the Syrian actors who appeared in the “comedy” scene to apologize to the victims and their families for making fun of their ongoing suffering.

Skyline states that the Syrian series was in violation of Article 20 of the Charter of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which states that “any propaganda for war is prohibited by law and any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence”.
