Death Threats & Arrests By Palestinian Authorities

SkyLine International observed a number of serious violations against the backdrop of expressing an opinion by the Palestinian authorities In the west bank and Gaza Strip.
The Foundation warned of the danger of incitement in the Palestinian social media, which is practised on the advocates of peaceful protest against the Social Security Act.
” Sky Line received a number of letters of death threats to activists engaged in labour movement against the new Palestinian law”, said Ida Sider, the researcher and advisor of the foundation.

One of these activists, 33-year-old Mohammed al-Saghir from the southern West Bank city of Hebron, said that he was threatened with physical abuse and murder if he did not stop his activities.
In a private testimony, Al-Saghir told Skyline International that he received a number of phone calls from blocked numbers threatening to kill him on January 15.
“I received several calls, all of which threaten to kill me if I do not stop participating in the labour movement, against the Social Security Law.”, he said.
“They also called my father. My family was asked to prevent me from protesting against the Social Security Law and they were threatened that I will be treated in a barbaric way.”
Mohammed al-Saghir explained that he is active in the field of human rights, known to international institutions, and at the same time is an employee of a company. That is the reason why he is he is against the adoption of the Social Security Act.
He added that he had sent a number of complaints to human rights organizations, including SkyLine International.
