Stockholm: Skyline International extends its commendation to Indonesia for its steadfast commitment to championing the rights of the Palestinian people. Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi's resolute stance was highlighted during the 2024 Annual Press Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (PPTM) at Gedung Merdeka, Bandung.

In the face of the devastating Israeli aggression in 2023, which claimed the lives of over 21 thousand Palestinians and resulted in the destruction of crucial public infrastructure, including the Indonesian Hospital in North Gaza, Indonesia has emerged as a beacon of support and solidarity.

Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi underscored the glaring double standards exhibited by some Global North countries, particularly in their silence on the human rights violations in the Gaza Strip. Despite often lecturing other nations about human rights, these developed nations have neglected to address the plight of the Palestinians. Minister Marsudi aptly questioned this inconsistency, emphasizing that Palestinians, like any other people, are entitled to the same human rights.

Furthermore, Marsudi brought attention to the UN Security Council's inability to prevent the ongoing genocide in Gaza, with draft resolutions for a ceasefire repeatedly vetoed by council members. In response, Indonesia remains resolute in its commitment to advocate for Palestine, taking its cause to the International Court of Justice.

Scheduled for February 19, Minister Marsudi will represent the Indonesian government at the International Court of Justice, aiming to support the Court in providing an Advisory Opinion to strengthen Palestine's legal position. The United Nations is called upon not to overlook the political and legal struggles of the Palestinian people.

Skyline International recognizes Indonesia's principled stance, with Minister Marsudi declaring that the country has chosen to be on the right side of history in defending humanity and justice for the Palestinian people. The theme of the 2024 PPTM, "Advancing Free and Active Foreign Policy: A Ten-Year Journey," reflects Indonesia's commitment to an independent and proactive foreign policy.

During this event, Minister Marsudi also highlighted Indonesia's diplomatic achievements over the past nine years and outlined diplomatic priorities for the current year.

Skyline International stands in solidarity with Indonesia in its unwavering commitment to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people and commends the country for its active role in fostering justice and humanity on the global stage. We will continue to closely monitor and report on developments related to Indonesia's advocacy for the rights of the Palestinians.
